What is Yorkshire Forward

Yorkshire Forward was set up by Government to promote sustainable economic development throughout the Yorkshire and Humber region. One of England's nine Regional Development Agencies (RDAs) Yorkshire Forward is a business led organisation that aims to help improve the region’s relative economic performance and reduce social and economic disparities. Yorkshire Forward works in partnership with organisations throughout the region to deliver objectives under the Regional Economic Strategy.

What does it do?

  • Attracts inward investment and jobs into the region
  • Funds community based regeneration schemes to ensure opportunities for Yorkshire and Humber's most deprived areas
  • Increases the availability of training for the region's workforce
  • Promotes the whole region

Who are its members?

Yorkshire Forward is led by a Chair and a Board of 15 people. RDA Boards are made up of a wide mix of senior stakeholders within the region including local Government, the voluntary sector, trade unions and local businesses. The Board meets every 6 weeks to discuss a wide range of important issues.

The business led approach of in delivering the Regional Economic Strategy (RES) and its strategic aims relating to business, environment and people is reflected by the organisation structure of Yorkshire Forward and its five directorates:
