[The Northern and Yorkshire Public Health Observatory], along with the other seven [regional PHOs], was launched in 2000 with the goal of strengthening the availability and use of information about health at local level

The Yorkshire and Humber Network for Health and Well-Being is a network of representatives from the health bodies and regional and local government working to reduce inequalities and improve the health and well being of the whole population. (No website)

[The Health Development Agency: Yorkshire and the Humber] is the regional arm of the Health Development Agency, the national authority working to improve people's health and to reduce health inequalities.

[Health Development Agency] is the national authority on what works to improve people's health and to reduce health inequalities. They work at a regional level in partnership across sectors to support informed decision making at all levels and the development of effective practice.

[Health Protection Agency] (HPA) for the Yorkshire and Humber region serves the three Strategic Health Authorities (SHAs) covering thirty-four Primary Care Trusts (PCTs) and twenty-one local authorities associated with them. It provides specialist health protection advice, operational support and input to the development and implementation of policy to the National Health Service and other agencies.

[Yorkshire and Humber Regional Forum on Ageing] was originally known as the Regional Ageing Panel. It has been in existence since 2001 and brings together a network of organisations to consider the issues of demographic change across the region. They have recently issued a report [Future Years – facing the mid-life challenge in Yorkshire and Humber] which provides up-to-date knowledge of the numbers and profile of those aged 50–69 years within the region.
