Regional Initiatives
Modernising Rural Delivery

Following publication of the Rural Strategy 2004, Government Office for Yorkshire and The Humber (GOYH) is leading on the delivery of a number of the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs’ (Defra) rural policies, in line with broader Government policy objectives in the region.

The following rural policies are carried out in conjunction with partners and key stakeholders such as local authorities and rural community councils at regional, sub-regional and local level:

  • Rural Delivery Framework
  • Rural Pathfinder
  • Sustainable Strategy for Farming and Food
  • Rural Land Use Planning
  • Rural Proofing
  • Rural Affairs Forum
  • Regional Forestry Strategy

The regional rural delivery framework will ensure strengthened joint working and also identify rural priorities against a clear and robust evidence base.

The Yorkshire and the Humber Rural Affairs Forum brings together a wide range of rural stakeholders to inform and monitor the regional and local delivery of policy and act as a channel for regional views on national proposals affecting rural areas. Through its wide membership it has a vital role in bringing together stakeholders, key partners and organisations.
