Government Connect

Government Connect is a national initiative that is developing a common technical infrastructure for local authorities, to support the vision of efficient, personalised, e-enabled customer-focused services by enabling:
- Citizens to have a "single sign on" to all government services.
- Local and central government to share data securely in support of service delivery.
The success of Government Connect depends on all Local Authorities being signed up to its use by April 2008.
Pilots for the first phase of Government Connect started in January 2006.
The regional pilots have the support of the regional eGovernment group and were proposed on the basis of their commitment, capability and capacity to achieve a smooth implementation.
