A number of jobs will be created in the Yorkshire region as a result of government spending on its Building Schools for the Future project, it has been revealed.
The news comes from a recently published report by ConstructionSkills, the Construction Skills Network report 2007, which suggests that 87,600 recruits will be needed each year between 2007-2011 in order to meet the projects aims.
Furthermore, the Telegraph & Argus claimed that in Yorkshire and the Humber, 6,090 recruits will be required per annum over this timeframe in order to meet the demands.
"One of our biggest challenges is to ensure new entrants and existing workers have access to the training that will deliver the skills that are required for projects across all sectors," commented Peter Lobban of ConstructionSkills.
He added that there is no shortage of applicants in the sector and that with applications to construction and built environment courses and apprenticeships are on the increase.
