"Sheffield Is My Planet" week (06/02/2007)

Hour long workshops are to be held this week as part of a seven-day series of events scheduled for politician Al Gore’s visit to Sheffield.

Sheffield Is My Planet week focuses on climate change among other environmental issues. The Creating a Greener Sheffield sessions are targeted at informing local people about renewable energy sources and how individuals can make their everyday lives more eco-friendly.

"Attendees will be able to find out how to make a solar doorbell, there will be demonstrations on solar water heating, wind and water power and opportunities to access the Solar Active Resource Guide to find out more about energy efficiency and doing our bit," said councillor Mary Lea.

The sessions will take place this Thursday at the Business, Science and Technology Library.

"Together we can make a real difference to our environment and build a greener Sheffield for the future," councillor Lea concluded.

Other events taking place on Thursday include a presentation from law firm DLA Piper and ’healthy, wealthy and warm in Tinsley’ - a Heat Sheffield/Sheffield PCT roadshow.
