The regional level of government in the UK is becomingly increasingly important
- National powers in the areas of planning, housing and transport are being devolved to regional level
- The role of regional governance is evolving
- Regional initiatives, such as the Northern Way and City Regions are changing the way in which national regional policy is developed
- Local authorities and other bodies, such as Local Strategic Partnerships, are working together at sub-regional and regional level
